Mie and Fred Oshima Endowed Scholarship

The Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation and the College Financial Aid Office are pleased to announce the availability of the Mie and Fred Oshima Endowed Scholarship.

This scholarship was established in honor of the late Mie Oshima, who worked for many years at Mt. Vernon High School in Fairfax County, and her husband Fred. The purpose of the scholarship is to help graduates of Mt. Vernon High School or children of current or former employees of Mt. Vernon High School to attend NOVA.

To be eligible for the Mie and Fred Oshima Endowed Scholarship, the following criteria must be met:

  • Recipient must be a Mt. Vernon High School student or alumnus or a child of current or former employees of Mt. Vernon High School
  • Recipient must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (high school or college)
  • Recipient must demonstrate financial need
  • Recipient may be a full-time or part-time student
  • Preference is given to students enrolling at NOVA for the first time

Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books, supplies, or emergency aid. Scholarship may be renewed for a second year if recipient maintains the minimum cumulative grade point average.
