Reva A. Savkar ADVANCE Science Scholarship

The Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation and the College Financial Aid Office are pleased to announce the availability of the Reva A. Savkar ADVANCE Science Scholarship for Summer and Fall 2021.

NOVA Professor Emerita Reva A. Savkar, winner of the 2013 Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, and NOVA Professor Emeritus Robert C. Loser, established the scholarship to recognize that there can be no excellence in teaching without excellence in learning by students. They wish to honor and support students who best exemplify commitment to outstanding learning in progress toward careers in science.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Student must have completed at least the Fall 2020 semester in the NOVA ADVANCE program and be currently enrolled in ADVANCE.
2. Student must be in a NOVA AS in Science degree program leading to a George Mason University BS in Astronomy, Atmospheric Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Neuroscience, or Physics. AS Science – Math Specialization” is INELIGIBLE
3. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher.

Number of Awards Offered: 1 per year

Use of Award: The scholarship may be used only for tuition and course materials for courses in the Summer or Fall 2021 Semesters.

Recipient Selection Process: Selection made by the Reva A. Savkar ADVANCE Science Scholarship Committee.
