Linda J. Romeo Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation and the College Financial Aid Office are pleased to announce the availability of the scholarship listed below for the 2019-2020 academic year. Recipient must be a resident of the Nation’s capital region.
Preference given to female students.
Preference given to a non-traditional student who has been in the workforce already and who is returning to better her education; or to a woman who has demonstrated her commitment by seeking a degree while still working.
Preference given to students of low-income backgrounds and those from working, lower- to middle-class families possessing limited resources for higher education. Scholarship is open to those above financial aid status to include those of lower- and middle-class. Applicants should include statement of financial need in essay portion of scholarship application
Preference given to fields of study which present the opportunity to provide value back to the community upon completion of degree, fields such as Early Childhood Education, Health Sciences (including Nursing), Emergency Medical Services, Substance Abuse Prevention, Gerontology, Health Information Technology, Education or Community Technology, etc.
Preference given to full-time students who enroll for and complete at least 12 credits per semester during academic year of award. However, part-time students who enroll for and complete at least 6 credits per semester while still employed will be considered as well.
Preference given to students referred by the Center for Multi-Cultural Human Services (CMHS) (www.cmhs.org) and/or students with a multi-cultural background entering this country as potential citizens and who qualify for admission to Northern Virginia Community College.
